BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha Visit
Bochasanwasi(B) Akshar(A) Purushottam(P) Sanstha(S), often abbreviated as BAPS, is a worldwide religious and civic organization within the Swaminarayan branch of Hinduism. This is an excellent Hindu mandir. The icons inside the mandir represent various divinities holy to Hindus. It was opened in Dec 2012 which is a mega temple with authentic Hindu temple construction.
A temple or mandir is a structure designed to bring human beings and gods together, using symbolism to express the ideas and beliefs of Hinduism.
The visitor center's carvings are made of teak wood and the shrine's intricate, awe-inspiring carvings are made of Italian marble in India. Every single piece on and inside this Mandir is hand carved in India and brought to the United States. It took 1500 craftsmen over 5 years to build all this. The Mandir structure is a representation of the Body of Deity so the bottom represents the foot of God while the top represents God's head. I love the carving on wood and marble stone.
There is a small food shack, we got to try the famous mango lassi, plus other India vegetarian food which was really good.
Took the elevator on to the ground floor to see the exhibition area. They have explained the rich culture of India with beautiful and colorful pictures.
