Based on King Haakon IV in 1200s Norway. Most thrilling part is the chase over the mountain, not on horseback but on wood skis! Seeing them zip around on cross country skis even in battle is amazing and unusual. Today's annual skiing event "Birkebeinerrennet" commemorates that Chase. The pristine beauty of Norway really shines forth, from the mountain farms and snow covered slopes of Lillehammer, site of the 1994 Winter Olympics.
The movie unfolds and continues to deliver every 10-15 minutes with some pretty good reveals. A touching story, great action, and performances. The care and attention that was given to the topic of autism is appreciated. It's another reason why this is such a great movie.
Tagline: "It took 1700 years to build. and is 5500 miles long. What were they trying to keep out?" Well, historically the Great Wall was intended to keep out barbarian invaders from the north.
Damon does a good job in this captivating science fiction based on the premise that the great wall of China was built to keep out monsters. The film is set during the Song Dynasty (960-1279) and gunpowder was developed in China during that era. The CGI special effects are stunning.
Great special effects and really good acting but it did little to engage me. This movie combines the unknown and supernatural and mix it with action and superheroes.
