A humming bird feeder has been hung right outside our kitchen nook area for years. And humming bird watching is a joy during our meal times. B.A. said is our '$700,000 view'. They migrate, you know. That's why they disappear for a while during winter time. I still replenish the sugar water weekly regardless. Since they recognize it as a gas station when they migrate. They too fight for owning territory. The rapid flapping of the wings in a crowd can be quite a scene. A shopper in Home Depot advised us to use glass feeder instead of plastic one to enhance the taste of sugar water. Just plain sugar water is good enough, 1 part of sugar to 4 parts of water. We stopped spending money in the fancy syrup. So far, they still keep coming.
