April: National Poetry Month

April is Poetry Month! It is a time to read poetry, learn about poetry, memorize poetry, and love poetry. See how poets can say a lot with just a few words.

Weather (Traditional poem)

Whether the weather is cold,
Or whether the weather is hot,
We'll weather the weather whatever the weather,
Whether we like it or not!

Beneath the Sea (by Maud Keary 1912)

Were I a fish beneath the sea,
Shell-paved and pearl-brocaded,
Would you come down and live with me,
In groves by coral shaded?

No washing would we have to do:
Our cushions should be sponges --
And many a great ship's envious crew
Should watch our merry plunges!

MI-5 (Movie, 2015)

I didn't know about this TV series in the UK. MI-5 stands for Military Intelligence-section 5. This is the first full length film on MI-5 that I have seen.

Comparing to Spectre that I saw last week, which doesn't hold a candle, to this film. Both British styled films with current events written into the storyline - but MI-5 could not be more alarming.

Spectre (Movie, 2015)

I found Spectre's story line bland and predictable with a premise we've seen before. It was a disappointment being too long and boring. Can not enjoy Daniel Craig and maybe it is time for a change.

The Best Offer (Movie, 2013)

Aesthetically beautiful. A tight script and amazing music. Geoffrey Rush and Sylvia Hoeks push the absolute limits in building the sexual tension.

It's a high concept film that might appeal to the European intellectual and yet also has much to offer those who don't generally enjoy such films.

The Martian (Movie, 2015)

Most of director Ridley Scott's big budget science fiction blockbusters have been hugely successful. The Martian is set in the near future, a future where NASA has a healthy budget and is sending manned missions to Mars. Matt Damon carries the show as Astronaut Mark Watney who finds himself marooned on the Red Planet. The high tech sets including spacecraft, Mars habitats and rovers are well detailed and completely believable.

Who would have thought that a lone guy wandering around Mars talking to himself could be so entertaining?

The Last Witch Hunter (Movie, 2015)

Lots of CGI, lots of Vin Diesel and some other noteworthy additions too, like Elijah Wood and Michael Caine. This with kind of star power and financial backing it’s no wonder Diesel has already signed on for Part 2.

The low light photography was extremely annoying. Not sure if it just was a mistake or to cover up poor CGI. Story is OK though.
