Man of Tai Chi (2013, Movie)

"Man of Tai Chi" has this simple story that feels effortless, but is also fairly flawed in its execution. The plot has some twists and a good deal of eastern philosophy about managing chi and the necessity of meditation and use or abuse of power. The showy part of the movie is in the fight scenes and there are a lot of them. 

As Master Yang puts it, "Man of Tai Chi" is about perfecting the "harmony of form and spirit" and finding your true path. 

American Sniper (2014, Movie)

As we saw in "The Hurt Locker", soldiers can unintentionally bring home some of what they endure overseas, and it takes quite a toll. Bradley Cooper becomes SEAL sniper Chris Kyle in an authentic portrayal, giving the performance of his career.

"American Sniper" is a riveting true story, one you truly want to enjoy, but the film never quite becomes the epic it sets out to be. There's also a sniper vs. sniper story-line that adds another intriguing element. And Clint Eastwood brings the breath of life to a genuine film of a story that needed to be told.

Cheesecake Pie?

Tried a new recipe of cheesecake from friend today. It turned out to be more like a cheesecake pie. The ingredients ask for less cream cheese, but more heavy whipping cream. On top of it, I used organic cane sure instead of the refined granulated cane sugar.
