This film powerfully captures the emotionally wrenching experience of a nine year old boy losing his father in war and then apparently losing the love of his mother who sent him to a surrogate home for his wartime safety. Your heart will be torn and tears will roll, but you will know it has been a legitimate experience, rather than just manipulation, watching this story unfold.There were many Finnish "war children" at the time and later it had a profound effect on their lives extending into adulthood.
